先后主持国家自然科学基金项目2项,河南省重点科技攻关项目、河南省高等学校重点科研项目、河南省高等学校青年骨干教师培养计划项目、河南省高等教育教学改革研究与实践项目(研究生教育)和信阳师范学院首批南湖青年学者项目等共计12项;先后参与国家自然科学基金重点项目、国家转基因重大专项和国家自然科学基金面上项目等国家和省部级重点项目多项;先后获得湖北省优秀博士论文奖、湖北省自然科学优秀论文奖、河南省自然科学优秀论文奖、全国教育教学信息化大赛奖、河南省教学技能竞赛奖、河南省信息技术教育优秀成果奖和河南省遗传学会优秀论文奖等共计40余项。先后在《Nature Communications》、《BMC Genetics》、《Nature Genetics》、《Journal of Agricultural Science》、《Journal of Plant Sciences》、《Frontiers in Plant Science》、《Journal of Biotechnology Research》、《Journal of Plant Studies》和《植物学报》等国内外学术刊物发表论文40余篇;申请国家发明专利5项,其中获得授权发明专利2项,公开发明专利3项;发布河南省地方标准3项。
